Lawyer – Civil / Commercial Litigator (3+ Years’ Experience)

Doak Shirreff Lawyers LLP is looking for a civil / commercial litigation lawyer with at least 3 years of experience to join our team in Kelowna.

What You’ll Do
You will work on a broad range of litigation matters, with a focus on civil and commercial disputes. Experience in builders’ liens and construction law is an asset.
You can expect a mix of independent file conduct and collaborative work with experienced counsel. Your work will include:
- advising clients on litigation strategy and dispute resolution
- conducting legal research
- drafting pleadings, application materials, and settlement documents
- attending court and continuing to develop advocacy skills
- negotiating resolutions and helping move files forward strategically and efficiently
- managing your own files while working with senior counsel on more complex matters
- building your practice with support from the firm and referrals from our solicitor group
- contributing positively to the firm’s collegial and team-oriented culture
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who brings:
- 3+ years of litigation experience
- experience in civil / commercial litigation
- experience in builders’ liens and construction law as an asset
- some courtroom experience and a desire to continue building advocacy skills
- strong written, organizational, and communication skills
- sound judgment and a practical, thoughtful approach to problem solving
- professionalism, courtesy, and reliability in all interactions
- a team-first mindset and willingness to collaborate with lawyers and staff
You must be a member, or eligible to become a member, of the Law Society of British Columbia.
This role is based in Kelowna, with flexibility to work from home 1–2 days per week.
