Kelowna Lawyers

Kelowna is a great city for work and recreation. Numerous organizations such as Accelerate Okanagan, Okanagan Young Professionals, the Chamber of Commerce, and various Rotary Clubs make up just some of the groups to support professionals in the Okanagan. It also offers the best of all seasons for recreation with track and trail running, mounting biking, road cycling, cross-country and downhill skiing, and endless water sports on our beautiful lake. Kelowna remains a great city to raise a family with affordable housing, great schools, Okanagan College, and UBCO.

It is our goal to maintain a dynamic firm culture that remains supportive of our lawyers and so we look for talented candidates who have strong qualifications and proven interpersonal skills, balanced with diverse personal interests and life experiences. We encourage our lawyers to show initiative in their career development and marketing, and we encourage you to take advantage of the Okanagan’s offerings outside of work.

We are a collegial firm and all lawyers are encouraged to participate in our wine club, monthly lunches, seasonal parties, and other firm-wide events. We work hard, but recognize the importance of having fun along the way.

Students

We look for well-rounded applicants who demonstrate a strong academic background and proven interpersonal skills, balanced with diverse personal interests and life experiences. When we hire a student we do so with a long-term view considering not only the role she or he will play while articling, but also how they will be an asset and contribute as a future associate and partner. We are interested in applicants who want to make Kelowna their home and we have a preference for applicants with connections in our community.

As an articling student you will gain exposure to all areas of law that we practice in. Working closely with associates and partners on files will give you the opportunity to gain experience in research, drafting, and advocacy, as well as insight on practice management and how to meet the goals and expectations of our clients. You will also work closely with paralegals and support staff to fully understand the important role they play in managing the life of a file. This breadth of experience and exposure will help you focus your areas of interest as you transition to an associate position. We ensure you have a well-rounded articling experience but we also encourage you to show initiative in areas you are interested in and seek out the work you enjoy.

When you arrive at the firm you will be assigned a principal who will oversee your articling year. You will also have an extensive support network in the lawyers and management who recognize that you are here to learn and will maintain an open door policy to answer questions you have along the way.

Kelowna is a great city to call home; there are many organizations and clubs to support your professional and personal development. Within the firm we encourage you to be involved in the community, build relationships, and build your success.
