Shannon Christensen & Mamas for Mamas | In Focus Spotlight

Doak Shirreff is the sponsor of a community featured called “In Focus” on KelownaNow.com. Each weekday, a new person is featured in a Q&A profile, giving the community an opportunity to learn more about the great people who make Kelowna a wonderful place to live and work. As part of our partnership with KelownaNow, Doak Shirreff is now sponsoring the In Focus Spotlight too! With new questions and a special video interview, this an opportunity for our team to personally nominate some of the incredible people who inspire us.

Shannon Christensen In Focus Spotlight Kelowna

For our first monthly In Focus Spotlight, Kate Snowsell put Shannon Christensen’s name forward. The founder of not-for-profit Mamas for Mamas and a trauma therapist at the Elizabeth Fry Society, Shannon’s dedication to helping others is remarkable and appreciated by so many.

“I nominated Shannon because she goes above and beyond to help the women and children in our community get the care and resources they need to obtain a safer, healthier, more economically stable life,” said Snowsell of her nomination. “She works tirelessly for others while still managing to raise and enjoy a  young family of her own, and I truly admire that. Mamas for Mamas exemplifies the maxim “it takes a village” by connecting families in our community with the support they need, and Shannon is the driving force behind this incredible organization.”
