Jonathan began working at Doak Shirreff Lawyers as a student in the summer of 2014, and subsequently joined the firm as an Associate lawyer in 2016. He works with an attention to detail and a keen awareness of the complexities that are inherent with many business and employment relationships. He is proud to be a fourth generation Okanagan resident.
My practice has a focus in the areas of employment and business law, as well as a growing practice assisting societies such as non-profit organizations and charities. I am also a member of Doak Shirreff Lawyers’ civil and commercial litigation group.
I am incredibly proud of the legacy that Doak Shirreff Lawyers has created in the many years it has been established in Kelowna, and I am determined to maintain that legacy and reputation alongside the impressive team here.
I enjoy working in areas of employment law and business law because I take pride in seeing my clients succeed. Assisting my clients in such a way that allows them to smoothly run their business and employ their staff requires positive working relationships, which is a goal I pursue tirelessly. Whether an employment relationship is beginning or has just ended, I recognize the value in ensuring that individuals are treated with the respect that they are entitled to, and I enjoy working with both employers and employees to ensure that workplace and statutory standards are met, and that employees are and have been treated in accordance with their rights.
It is important to me that clients see my involvement in their matters as value added. This often requires creative solutions that may not have been apparent to them previously. I find this aspect of my work not only rewarding but also valuable, especially when it comes to addressing challenging and often complex circumstances.
I try to keep myself moving as best as I can, as I believe a healthy body means a healthy mind. As a result some of my passions include participating in triathlons, water-polo, skiing on both water and snow. I also greatly enjoy travel and theatre, as well as sitting back and enjoying a pint with good friends.
